After completing this assignment…
  • Participants will be able to create a new folder in Google Drive
  • Participants will be able to upload a file to the folder and share the file using a public URL

Overview
Put your new knowledge of navigating Google Drive to the test! In this exercise you will add a new folder to your drive, upload a file, and share it using a public URL.

Instructions
  1. Use the “New” button to create a new folder. Rename this folder to a title of your choosing.
  2. Open the folder by double clicking the icon. Once the folder is open, select the “New” button and upload a file. The file you select will automatically upload to the open folder.
  3. Select the file by clicking on it. Once selected, click on the paper clip icon in the top right-hand corner. This will get the link to your file. Make sure to change the settings so anyone with the link can view the file.
  4. Click “Share with People and Groups” and type in the email gggood@coastal.edu. Make sure the box is selected to notify the recipient via email. Finally, click the “Share” button and the file link is now shared with the course instructor.
  5. Click for a video tutorial.

Submitting
Once you have shared the file with the instructor using the instructions and email above, your assignment is automatically submitted.
Make sure to complete Exercise 1 prior to the end of the day you complete Module 1.

  • Participants will be able to update a minimum of three customizations to their Google Drive settings

Overview
In this assignment, you will apply knowledge from Topic 1.3 to customize settings in your Google Drive.

Instructions
  1. Open your Google Drive. Next, change the view to the list view. Take a screenshot of your Drive homepage. If you do not know how to take a screenshot, click here.
  2. Open the settings of your Drive. Select the box that enables you to access your recent documents while offline.
  3. Change the density of your display to “Cozy.” Take a screenshot of your updated settings.
  4. Upload the 2 screenshots to your Google Drive and share the public link with gggood@coastal.edu .

Submitting
Once you have shared both screenshots with the instructor using a public link via Google Drive, your assignment is automatically submitted.
Make sure to complete Exercise 2 prior to the end of the day you complete Module 1.
